We Are Doc Women was founded in 2017 to provide peer support for women directors working in factual television in the UK. We have grown to become a collective of directors, producers, assistant producers and executive producers advocating for equal opportunities, greater support and fair recognition within our industry.
We Are Doc Women is committed to fostering a peer support network and safe space to discuss issues relating to all women directors and aspiring directors. We aim to offer mentoring and professional development to women who want to direct or who are already directors as they navigate their careers. We support greater recognition for women producers. We promote and participate in advocacy efforts to hold the industry to account. Previous speakers have included heads of commissioning departments, commissioning editors, award-winning directors, financial advisors and experienced rate negotiators.
