Plagued by financial battles and released in 1993 to critical and commercial failure, Boxing Helena is an audacious and controversial film that has since become a cult classic that marked the directorial debut of Lynch, who at the time of the films release was only 25 years of age.
Starring Sherilyn Fenn and the late Julian Sands, the film follows the story of Dr. Nick Cavanaugh, a talented surgeon haunted by his unrequited love for a beautiful woman named Helena. Driven by an overwhelming desire to possess her, he spirals into a dark obsession, resorting to extreme measures to ensure she remains by his side.
