Sans Soleil 15

Part of Members' Events
Chris Marker, France, 1983, 104m.

Sans Soleil was suggested by our member Julia Merican, who writes: 'The writer and screenwriter Edward George once told my class that everybody should watch Chris Marker’s Sans Soleil at least 14 times if they wanted to learn how to write anything. I would love for one of my rewatches to be on the big screen at The Garden Cinema.'

Chris Marker, filmmaker, poet, novelist, photographer, editor, and now videographer and digital multimedia artist, has been challenging moviegoers, philosophers, and himself for years with his complex queries about time, memory, and the rapid advancement of life on this planet. Sans Soleil is his mind-bending free-form travelogue that journeys from Africa to Japan. - The Criterion Channel

Please note, the screening on Monday 29 June is our free members' screening, while the one on Wednesday 8 July is a regular screening, which is open to the general public.

Please arrive promptly - we do not show adverts.
