The new feature film by Carlos Marqués-Marcet, whose filmography consistently reflects on the human condition, takes the form of a musical tragicomedy to explore the blurred boundaries between life and death. María Arnal’s soundtrack and La Veronal’s choreography set the tone for this unique story about the decision to die. An unexpected celebration of life and the unconditional love of those who accompany us along the way.
When Claudia decides she does not want to wait for illness to ravage her body, her partner Flavio—who has not left her side for the past forty years—sets in motion their long-standing plan to end their lives together in Switzerland with the help of an assisted voluntary death organization. Meanwhile, their daughter Violeta becomes the unintended mediator between her parents and everything they leave behind, while also trying to find her place in this story of unconditional love.
