Whether the lines are blurred or bold, crossovers between carers, friends, and family are a fact of life. But the realities of caring and being cared for are often different from what we have been taught and shown on screen. In “Bonded” we look at the needs and desires of those who raise us and care for us and non-traditional family dynamics. The programme includes an examination of perspective gained in later years, as roles are reversed between child and carer, and the discoveries of filmmakers who choose to pursue a deep dive into their lineage.
Looking at the needs met and what we ask for our carers, what we expect from our children and the autonomy beyond pregnancy, birth and labour.
