Park Chan-wook, South Korea, 2009, 134m.

LRB Screen, the London Review Bookshop’s longrunning film series, is relocating to The Garden Cinema and partnering with MUBI to present an occasional series of special screenings exploring the art of literary adaptation.

The series premieres with Thirst (2009), Park Chan-wook’s freewheeling adaptation of Emile Zola’s Thérèse Raquin, which re-casts the 1868 novel as an erotic vampire movie. Introducing the film, and discussing it afterwards with host Gareth Evans, will be special guest Xiaolu Guo, the novelist and filmmaker who Deborah Levy recently called ‘one of the most valuable writers in the world.’

Cast:
Song Kang-ho, Kim Ok-vin, Kim Hae-sook
