This programme of new Lebanese shorts is part of Lebanon Cinema Days and will be preceded by an intro by Maria Abdul Karim from the Beirut Film Society.


There Are Rumors That We Left (14 mins)

Lebanon, Syria - Joyce Oska

Amidst war, Joelle a young single mother, fights to protect her daughter after a terrorist bombing targets a nearby school bus. When a travel ban traps her 8-year-old, Joelle has no choice but to smuggle her across the Syrian-Lebanese border.


One Last Time (22 mins)

Fiction - Lebanon - Karim El Rahbani

Toufic, a widower in his ‘80s, answers the phone to be told of yet another friend who has died. He is lost in mournful contemplation when a beautiful woman mistakenly knocks on his door with a parcel, awakening something long dormant inside of him. He consults with his young friend who introduces him to a dating application. Toufic is primed to swipe right on every pretty young face, but the absurdity of real life intervenes.


Abjad Hawaz (5 mins)

Dance - Lebanon, France, Spain - Hadi Moussally

Abjad Hawaz takes its name from the ancient ordering of the Arabic alphabet. Through the body of Salma Zahore, each letter is danced and embodied in the ruins of Barcelona. Blending fashion, music, poetry, and performance, the film reclaims a language often feared and misunderstood, turning it into a celebration of identity, resilience, and artistic freedom.


Baadarane (15 mins)

Fiction - Lebanon - Samah El Kadi

A young boy from Mount Lebanon grapples with his mother’s sudden death, questioning the foundation of his faith and whether God punishes or saves people. In a series of mischievous challenges spreading anarchy in his tight-knit village, he attempts to hear back from God, yet hears nothing. His growing frustrations turn sinister and violent, as he rejects the religious traditions that once shaped his life.

A magical cabeceo in a tango ballroom takes two passionate souls on an intimate journey. Their words flow seamlessly through a dreamlike dance, revealing the heart of their bond as they navigate desire, fear, and love left unfolded.


I’m Looking for Someone Who Looks Like Me (18 mins)

Fiction – Lebanon, UK- Elio Tarabay

Ghyd, a young dish cleaner for a high-class Lebanese restaurant gets the chance to be a waitress for a day. After serving coffee to a famous Lebanese singer, she steals her coffee cup and asks her grandmother to read it for her, pretending it's her own.


A Dream Pointing to Aadchit (18 mins)

Documentary - Lebanon, Canada - Ghinwa Yassine Haunted by a recurrent dream of her grandfather turning the soil in her childhood home, G decides to go back to Aadchit, a small village in the south of Lebanon, to find her memories changed by the war.
