La Marsellesa de los borrachos + Q&A PG

Part of In-Edit Cine-Documental
Screened in partnership with Instituto Cervantes
Pablo Gil Retuerto, Spain, 2025, 96m.

The film will be followed by a Q&A.

A film crew travels through the roads and villages of northern Spain, retracing the clandestine journey of the Italian ethnomusicology group Cantacronache. In the summer of 1961, at the height of the Franco dictatorship, the group collected popular songs of resistance, preserving the voices of workers, intellectuals, and peasants.

Through oral testimonies, original recordings and photographs from that expedition, and contemporary reinterpretations of the songs they gathered, the film creates a dialogue between the two journeys. The result is an emotional and political geography of a territory where the wounds of the past remain unresolved, revealing how memory, music, and collective experience continue to shape the present.

The film is part of In-Edit Cine-Documental.
