Kino London w/Elvis Leon Rating TBC

Join us on August 31st for a selection of documentary shorts presented by Kino Short Film, including a sneak peek at award winning documentarian Elvis Leon's upcoming feature, We Are Lions, a feature documentary currently in post-production about the kidnapping of Elvis' father in Guatemala and his family's pursuit of justice. Stay after the screening for a panel discussion about documentary filmmaking with Elvis and special industry guests.


Elvis Leon is a producer and director from Los Angeles. His last documentary Cecil & Carl screened at 50 international film festivals and won 10 awards in ‘Best Documentary’ and ‘Audience Award’ categories.

Abla Kandalaft is a journalist and film programmer. She co-produced BBC Arabic's Alternative Film programme, produces and hosts the Mydylarama film podcast, which covers racial issues on screen, and the Garden Cinema's Film Talk podcast. She is on the board of the Independent Media Associaton and is a jury member for various international film festivals.


Angels of Anbar - An autobiographical account about Elvis' experience as an American soldier deployed to Iraq and his struggle with faith and PTSD.

Cecil and Carl - An award-winning LGBTQ+ short about partners coping with a diagnosis of advanced dementia and the decision to seek the help of a nursing home.
