Baz Luhrmann explores the life and music of Elvis Presley, through the prism of his complicated relationship with his enigmatic manager, Colonel Tom Parker (an unrecognisable Tom Hanks). It is an exhilarating, whirlwind biopic that fizzes with the Oscar-nominated filmmaker's trademark energy and flare. At the centre is an astonishing performance from Austin Butler who is electrifying and heart-breaking as the legendary Elvis. Peppered with all the King's greatest hits (and a handful of modern remixes), this enjoyable, majestic musical demands to be experienced on the big screen.
