The 30th Made in Prague Festival and Tributary Releasing present the London premiere of Miro Remo’s award-winning, playful documentary Better Go Mad in the Wild – a funny, tender and life-affirming portrait of two brothers who have chosen to live entirely on their own terms.

Deep in the Šumava Mountains, identical twins František and Ondřej have created a life far from the gaze of society. On their ramshackle farm, they tend to their animals, swim in forest lakes, compose poetry, drink, philosophise and bicker – before making up and starting all over again. But beneath their eccentric routines lie two very different spirits: František dreams of freedom and adventure, while Ondřej longs for the comfort of the familiar.

As their unbreakable bond is put to the test, their unconventional world becomes a funny and moving reflection on brotherhood, solitude and the desire to live life on your own terms. Remo playfully blurs the line between reality and fairy tale, mixing semi-staged vignettes, striking visual tableaux, a talking cow and plenty of anarchic humour.

Warm, eccentric and full of surprises, Better Go Mad in the Wild is a wonderfully offbeat celebration of two charismatic outsiders who have created their own way of seeing – and living – in the world.
