April And The Extraordinary World PG

Part of Films for the Family
Christian Desmares, France, 2015, 102m.

Drawing from the style of animation gems Belleville Rendez-vous and Song of the Sea, comes this French animated  wonder. It's 1941, but France is trapped in the nineteenth century, governed by steam and Napoleon V, and scientists vanish mysteriously. Avril (Marion Cotillard), a teenage girl, goes in search of her missing scientist parents, with the help of her talking cat companion Darwin.

Directors Christian Desmares and Franck Ekinci have crafted a fine comparison (and companion) to Hayao Miyazaki’s masterful Princess Mononoke, with its indomitable female lead and environmental commentary.

Into Film recommends this film is engaging for 7+

This is a 'Pay What You Can' Family Screening.
