KINOTEKA, the UK’s leading celebration of Polish cinema, is back with daring new voices, acclaimed auteurs and a rich programme of screenings and events.
Organised by the Polish Cultural Institute in London (Instytut Kultury Polskiej w Londynie) and supported by the Polish Film Institute.
The Polish Cultural Institute in London (Instytut Kultury Polskiej w Londynie) is an official cultural institution under the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Its mission is to promote Polish culture, art, history, science and language in the United Kingdom and to strengthen cultural ties between both countries. The Institute organises a wide range of events including exhibitions, concerts, film screenings, book launches, lectures and cultural exchanges, and also serves the Polish community in the UK. It was first established in 1938 and has been actively organising the KINOTEKA film festival since 2003.
The 2026 edition pays tribute to two giants of Polish filmmaking: Andrzej Wajda, marking what would be his 100th birthday with a retrospective of his iconic works and Krzysztof Kieślowski, honouring his enduring impact on world cinema.
Highlights include FRANZ by Agnieszka Holland – Poland’s official submission for Best International Feature Film at the 98th Academy Awards and Chopin, Chopin!, Michał Kwieciński’s lavish biopic of Frédéric Chopin. A selection of other exciting contemporary Polish films will also be showcased throughout the festival as well as a series of workshops and special events!
