London Latino Film Festival presents: Strike Water (Golpe de Agua) + Q&A 18

Part of Planting Seeds
Carla Cavina, Puerto Rico, 2024, 80m.

Strike Water is screening as part of London Climate Action Week and will be followed by an in-person Q&A with director Carla Cavina, Ian Redmond OBE and Fernando G. Champion moderated by Sangeeta Laudus, Head of Enviromental at LoLaFF.

Strike Water (Golpe de Agua) is a powerful Puerto Rican documentary by Carla Cavina that explores the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, one of the most devastating natural disasters in the island’s history. Through an intimate and poetic lens, the film gathers testimonies, silences, loss and resilience from communities affected by catastrophic flooding and prolonged darkness after the storm. More than a chronicle of disaster, it is a reflection on memory, institutional neglect, climate crisis, and the collective strength of the Puerto Rican people.

London Latino Film Festival (LoLaFF) is a community-led, non-profit film festival in London that celebrates and amplifies Latin American voices through cinema. Our mission is to build cultural bridges, create access to underrepresented stories, and bring audiences together through powerful film experiences that inspire dialogue and connection. Through screenings, Q&As, partnerships and outreach activity, we support filmmakers and create spaces for audiences, visibility and social impact.

London Climate Action Week was founded in 2019. Its mission is to harness the unique power of London for global and local climate action. It mobilises London’s unparalleled ecosystem of climate and non-climate organisations to accelerate global climate action and supports action in London to ensure it acts as a global climate leader.
