Cinema Mentiré

Cinema Mentiré is a pop-up film club that provides a platform for diverse voices from Latin America to UK audiences. Founded in 2023 by Amina Ferley Yael, Marta Calderón Quiñones and Natalia Christofoletti Barrenha, it celebrates the work of classic and contemporary filmmakers, while challenging the conventions typically associated with the cinema from the region. The initiative has organised screenings at various cinemas and alternative venues across London and beyond, including Ciné Lumière, Curzon, ICA, Rio Cinema, The Cinema Museum, The Garden Cinema and Watershed. It has also collaborated with institutions, film festivals, and independent collectives such as V&A East, QUEERCIRCLE, London Short Film Festival, Cinema Rediscovered, Fringe! Queer Film & Arts Fest, Budapest Classics Film Marathon, Cine Brazil, and Romancero Books, among others.
